Chapter 1 Love Gone Wrong

"Momma, why doesn't Daddy wive wif us?" I asked when my mom picked me up. I had always wondered why. Mommy never talked about my dad or about why they weren't together. I waited and watched Mommy's face closely and could tell she was thinking about what to say. I searched her soft sage green eyes and realized she was about to cry. I would soon be a child and going to school and knew that a daddy was important. I began to slide my bottom lip out to prepare for my puppy dog eyes when I noticed my mommy get ready to speak.

Her kind face looked so sad, as her mouth began to break into a gentle smile, my mothers emotions showed on her face, no matter how hard she tried to hide them. The voice of an angel began to speak,
"Rosemary, your father and I could not get along when we were together. When I found out I was pregnant with you he was already in a relationship with someone else. I loved your father very much, and I hope he loved me too. One thing I know is that he loves you. Now how about we go for a walk?" I could tell she wasn't telling me the hole truth. I also knew she was lying to me for my own good. I will have to ask her when I am a little older. I love going on walks with my mom. She just bought the local dog park and we are going to add toys and things for kids to do there. I am so excited because it will be ready just before Christmas.

My mom and I check on the park at least two times a week. She loads me up in the stroller and we head for the park. Today was a little different, we headed for the park but ended up at the restaurant.

Once inside I heard her say, "I have reservations for dinner this evening, it is my daughter's birthday."

The waiter looked up at her as smiled a not so friendly smile, "Of course, Miss. Millard. I believe your table is ready. Follow me please." He spun on his left heal and stuck his nose up and pranced toward a table in the back. I wasn't sure what to make of it, but I did notice he was upset about something.

After the waiter set the menues on the table he spoke again, "The waitress will be with you soon." With that he spun on his left heal again and pranced away.

Mom and I had a great dinner, she ordered me my favorite food, Frog Legs, and Mt. Dew; while she had Tri-Tip Steak and Chocolate Coke. Once mom had paid for dinner we walked outside and moms phone rang. She set me on the ground and answered her phone.

"Ben, now is not a good time." Then she paused, her face seemed like it was changing several shades of red, "Ben look, you told me that you didn't want any thing to do with her and that if she wanted a relationship with you she couldn't have one. Now that you have a girlfriend and might get married you want something to do with her. Forget it Ben!!!" Mommy slammed her cell phone closed and ramed it into his pocket. Mommy was mad, I could tell. She never yells, well not that I have heard. Who ever Ben was, Mommy didn't like him.

Mommy called a cab to take us home because night time was not a good time to be out. When we got home I noticed a cake on the table. I hoped it was for me.
